Peru, The Land of the Incas and Lima, City of Kings

The city of Lima is the capital of Peru and furthermore the largest city in the country. It is a place filled with contrasts, starting with the highly developed center of Lima and the luxury of neighborhoods such as Barranco, Miraflores and San Isidro.

The historical center of Lima features many antique and beautiful constructions which can be found around the Plaza Mayor, where the Cathedral and Palacio de Gobierno (Government Palace) are located, the San Martín Plaza which commemorates the centenary of the independence of Peru, the University Park, the anteroom of San Marcos University, and Parque Italiano with its altarpieces and bronze fountain. Barranco, Miraflores and San Isidro stand out as the most developed districts of Lima. Especially Barranco and Miraflores are touristic places  and have an great selection of hotels, restaurants, coffee-shops, places to work out, art galleries and of course large green areas which are perfect to take a walk or just relax and also large shopping district.  San Isidro on the other hand is mostly a residential neighborhood where equally wealthy Limeños congregate.

The south of Lima has different alternatives for beaches where the Limeños relax in the summer; for example Los Pulpos, El Silencio, Punta Rocas, followed by San Bartolo, Santa María and Embajadores, there are also the beaches of Asia more to the south.  To be continued...

El Silencio Beach (where it's possible to order food and drinks on the spot which adds to the perfect beach experience) - highly recommended!

I could have included some Macchu Picchu pictures, but i thought most of the people visiting the site have seen them so i went with the attractions that are in Lima or pretty close to it, guess I will worry about Macchu Picchu later, until then you can just google it ;-)
